Lawrence A. Janowitch, PhD
Dr. Janowitch is a psychologist by training, and
business entrepreneur at heart. His most recent
psychiatric experience was as Director of Emergency
Psychiatry for Metro Boston. He retired from this
position on disability due to severe hearing loss, and
subsequently received one of the first cochlear implants
in the New England area. Prior to this he spent over 20
years with the West-Ros-Park Mental Health Center of the
Boston State Hospital.
Larry has maintained an interest in community support
throughout his career as well. Concurrent to his career
he ran the West Roxbury District Court Clinic, a program
to combat child abuse and neglect and he evaluated
violent patients in need of transfer to Bridgewater
State Hospital. He also offered consultation services to
the Boston Police Department. He has been on the medical
faculties of both Harvard and Tufts and on the staff at
MIT.
After attending MIT's Sloan School of Management, Dr.
Janowitch became active on boards of several small
programs including day care, after school, and halfway
homes. He also participated on the boards of the Health
Planning Council of Greater Boston and Brigham and
Women's Hospital.
His entrepreneurial interests led him to participate on
the boards of several medical related startup companies.
Larry is involved with healthcare initiatives of the
World Health Organization, and formulating national
health policy.
He resides in Quincy, Massachusetts.
