Maryanne J. Harmsen, VP of Marketing and Business Development,
Landmark Medical Centers
Maryanne Harmsen has an established career as a healthcare
strategist. She is currently at Landmark Medical Center as
Corporate Vice President where her responsibilities include
marketing, business development, external relations and
communications.
She has been instrumental in advancing critical strategies in highly
competitive markets. Healthcare’s move to transparency has major
implications for hospital strategy development and she will be
helping set strategic priorities based on public performance
measures and focused on initiatives that provide the best values
proposition for patients.
Formerly as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Blue
Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, she developed an innovative
General Agency and Broker Distribution System customized to market
conditions
Ms. Harmsen was also Director of Sales for Met Life where she worked
for ten years. Her business acumen is acknowledged nationally and
she is considered a leader both in health insurance as well as the
health care industry.
She is also a motivational speaker and has participated in national
panel discussions involving the role of leadership in attaining
success within the framework of new business models. She attended
St. Peter’s College and has held Licenses in Life and Health
Insurance, Property and Casualty Insurance as well as a Series 6
designation.
Ms. Harmsen has served on the Rhode Island Governor’s Advisory
Council on Health and is a former member of the Board of Directors
of the Blue Cross Consortium of Plans. She is also currently leading
a committee supporting the analysis of the Global Medicaid Waiver
for the State of Rhode Island. She joined the Board of Directors
for the Gift of Hearing Foundation in 2009 in order to help guide
their efforts to create better access to cochlear implants through
expanded medical insurance coverage.
